50 Year Anniversary of Novus Ordo!

From the Pastor: 50 Year Anniversary of Novus Ordo!
Bulletin article, December 1

Fifty years ago, on the First Sunday of Advent in 1969, everything changed. It was on that fateful day when the New Order of Mass (Novus Ordo in Latin) was mandated to be celebrated throughout the world. In the Church, as in the world, we like to celebrate anniversaries. 50 years is always considered a very special anniversary. But I don’t see any celebrations, large or small, for the Novus Ordo Mass. There has been no special promulgation, no encyclical written, no apostolic letter sent out, nor even diocesan luncheons. There has been nothing but silence. Why? Why would the Church leaders remain close-mouthed about something that greatly affected every single Catholic and indirectly, at least, every non-Catholic? Why, when the Novus Ordo Mass is constantly promoted as the greatest thing since sliced bread, aren’t we witnessing great processions through the streets of Rome, huge diocesan... more

Comparison of Old and New Prayers for Blessing of Ashes

It’s on special days like today that I notice most sharply the vast difference between the LEX ORANDI of the old and the new liturgies.

I have prepared a chart comparing the blessing of ashes in the Tridentine rite with its parallel in the Novus Ordo.

Dare to be Irrelevant

Indeed, to a large extent, priests and bishops ceased to be relevant shepherds and became sheep of the culture, wholly-owned subsidiaries of liberal fashions. Over the past fifty years “The Role of the Church in the Modern World” became “The Role of the Modern World in the Church.”

Fifty years of “Please, like me!” tactics haven’t worked. Despite our best efforts, we have become irrelevant. Let’s try something new – and old. Let’s try the truth of the Gospel:

• Men, be faithful to your wives in marriage. Be kind and considerate. If you are involved with porn, give it up. Just do it.

• Ladies, this is from the Book of Proverbs: “It is better to sit in a corner of the housetop than with a quarrelsome wife and an unruly household.” (Prov. 25:24)

• Fathers, your kids don’t need you as a friend. They need you as a father. Expect their respect. Discipline them in charity and justice....

Padre Peregrino- Theology from a wandering priest

Many Catholics studying the current crisis in the Church have become numb to the definition of Pope Saint Pius X that modernism is "the synthesis of all heresies." Some may think "synthesis of all heresies" is an amorphous problem of general doctrinal malaise.  Others might classify it as a paranoid papal prophesy that never really materialized for the good-willed but jumpy Pope. But what has been astonishing to me lately is that I keep seeing that I learned everything, yes, quite literally everything, while growing up in Catholic grade school, high school and even seminary—wrong.  I don't mean just liturgical issues.

Say #no2CCHD On Nov 23rd And 24th

Last week's abysmal mess of a "bishops' meeting" in Baltimore should have given you ample reason to boycott any national collection by the USCCB.  In fact, reasons to boycott the CCHD collection have always proliferated.  Yet now even more scandal is brought to light.

This show exposes the truth behind the founders of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, which was intimately linked with Saul Alinsky, the father of community organizing and a supporter of birth control and abortion. Michael tackles the connection between the fundraising arms of the American Church and leftist advocacy groups.

The Remnant Newspaper

The Remnant was founded in 1967 and strives to adhere to Catholic teaching in every aspect of its journalism.

The Remnant has been fighting against the revolution in the Church for over fifty years, just as it has been fighting against the errors that infect the modern state-- Liberalism, Socialism, Communism, the New World Order, a degenerate youth culture, the abortion epidemic, euthanasia, sex education, etc.

Will the Remaining Decent Americans Drown in Denial?

We don’t want to admit it: The people we’re fighting are monsters. We desperately try to deny it: We’re governed by our enemies. Our soul shrinks at accepting it: We confront the doctrines of demons.

If you’re a nice, normal person you don’t want to admit that. It seems somehow “un-Christian.” But as St. Augustine once said, “God doesn’t need your lie.” Read this story, about a public school teacher coaching first-graders to masturbate. No, seriously, force yourself to go read it.
