The 45th president has made religious freedom a priority of his administration, from putting social conservatives like Severino and Vice President Mike Pence in top positions to lifting the Obama administration’s conscience mandate and establishinga White House office tasked with fielding the concerns of religious Americans and monitoring threats as they arise.

Active in the pro-life movement since 1976, Dr. Miller, who teaches theology at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, held up a photograph of an aborted, dismembered baby during her testimony, telling legislators, “If you’re going to support abortion, you should look at it.” These children were “treated as if they were no more significant than trash,” she said. 

But Sen. Lori Berman, D-Lantana, said there is no need for the legislation and that it is an attempt to limit abortion rights.

“Has there been any outcry to have this change in law?” Berman asked. “Have you heard from medical people or any people who have said this change is needed, when the system is currently working?”

If you didn’t read my article in last week’s bulletin, you really should before reading this one as it will help put some things into proper perspective. That said, I promised to continue explaining just what an AH/HA bishop (see last week’s article for an explanation) always threatens to do—and actually does—as often as necessary to keep the “peace” through a reign of fear and intimidation. His own power and “pleasure” (sick though these may be) are his main goals.

Why don't priests blow the whistle?   Last week

Based on Church teachings, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Encyclicals of the Pope, and issue papers from the Office of the Doctrine of the Faith, the following five issues concern actions that are intrinsically evil and must never be promoted by the law.

Intrinsically evil actions are those that fundamentally conflict with the moral law and can never be performed under any circumstances. It is a serious sin to deliberately endorse or promote any of these actions, and no person who really wants to advance the common good will support any action contrary to the non-negotiable principles involved in these issues.

During his tenure, “The Diocese of St. Petersburg refused to release its priest records and acknowledged it had previously handled sexual abuse complaints without contacting authorities,” reported The Tampa Bay Times in 2002.  In the end, the diocese handed over nearly $6 million dollars to settle sexual harassment claims.  

If priests cannot be chaste in celibacy, how can we expect our young men to grow in chastity as they prepare for marriage?

For example, when priests live their celibacy with confidence, they provide an example to young men who are required to be chaste in their own celibate state before they marry. Clerical violations of celibacy not only encourage secular commentators like Rush Limbaugh to question its value for priests, they undermine the resolve of men struggling to overcome addictions to pornography.
