Legal Career & Experience
Aguila has over a decade of experience as a prosecutor, focusing heavily on serious criminal offenses and public safety.
- Florida Attorney General's Office (Current): Serves as a Statewide Prosecutor handling complex, multi-county cases. He is a member of the Cold Case Unit, working on long-unsolved homicides and missing persons cases.
- Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office (2014–2022): Spent eight years as an Assistant State Attorney. He worked alongside law enforcement to prosecute thousands of cases, including homicide, drug trafficking, child abuse, sexual violence, and domestic violence.
Education & Background
Aguila is a lifelong Tampa resident and the grandson/son of Cuban immigrants who ran La Ideal and Aguila Sandwich Shop—longtime local businesses in the area.
- Law School: Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law.
- Undergraduate: Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida. He previously earned an Associate of Arts from Florida College, where he played collegiate baseball.
- Early Education: Attended St. Lawrence Catholic School and graduated from Tampa Catholic High School (Class of 2006).

Outside the courtroom, Aguila is active in several local organizations and youth programs.
- Boards & Commissions: Serves on the board of RISE Tampa (a police foundation supporting the Tampa Police Department) and is a member of the Cold Case Commission for the State of Florida.
- Memberships: Hillsborough County Bar Association, Tampa Tiger Bay Club, and The Italian Club of Tampa.
- Personal Life: He is a parishioner at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, married, has two daughters, and coaches their Little League softball team.
