Trumps Pro-Life Accomplishments

Internationally,

• President Trump’s administration has protected and promoted human dignity through policies that are pro-life. Such actions include joining twenty-four countries in joint statements before the United Nations General Assembly and other international bodies stating that there is no international right to abortion;
• After taking office, President Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy, which prevents approximately $9 billion of foreign aid from being used to fund abortions internationally Renamed the “Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance” Policy
• Funding for the U.N. Population Fund was ended by the Trump administration because the Fund “supports, or participates in the management of, a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.”
• Enacted by Congress in 1985, the Kemp-Kasten amendment prohibits United States funds from being given to an organization or program that supports or participates in a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization
• Planned Parenthood appears to confirm that the United States funding of UNFPA would fund worldwide abortions and affirms that President Trump’s decision to not fund UNFPA is a step in the right direction for the protection of life worldwide.

Nationally:

• Since being elected to office, President Trump has enacted pro-life policies. Appointed two Supreme Court Justices, and nearly two hundred Federal Judges -  all of which have made an impact for the protection of human dignity in the United States.
• Expressed support for banning abortion overall, except for cases of rape, incest or danger to the mother's life.
• In 2019,  in California the OCR notified the state that its law that required pro-life pregnancy centers to provide information on abortions to clients was in violation of federal law. Under the California law, pro-life pregnancy centers were required to post information about abortion in their facilities and provide further information to clients regarding abortion
• In 2018, under President Trump’s administration, the OCR created a new Conscience and Religious Freedom Division in order to ensure compliance with the enforcement of laws that protects the free exercise of religion and conscientious objection in healthcare
• In May of 2019, the Trump administration issued a rule that gave health care workers who conscientiously opposed providing “services” such as abortion, sterilization, or assisted suicide in the course of their work the ability to hold fast to their conscientious objections.
• In 2019, the Trump administration restricted the use of human fetal tissue procured from abortions in medical research.
• On June 12, 2020 the Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Health and Human Services issued a final rule that revises the interpretation of this section of the ACA, primarily redefining the meaning of “on the basis of sex” to mean discrimination based on the biological sex of the individual, and nothing more. (Planned Parenthood was attempting to expand this to meaning to include sex discrimination.)
• Expressed support for banning abortion overall, except for cases of rape, incest or danger to the mother's life.

It has come to the President's attention that Executive Branch agencies have spent millions of taxpayer dollars to date "training" government workers to believe divisive, anti-American propaganda. For example, according to press reports, employees across the Executive Branch have been required to attend trainings where they are told that "virtually all White people contribute to racism" or where they are required to say that they "benefit from racism." According to press reports, in some cases these training have further claimed that there is racism embedded in the belief that America is the land of opportunity or the belief that the most qualified person should receive a job.

• Under President Trump’s leadership, Congress passed historic tax cuts for hard-working Americans. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:
  • • Created nearly 9,000 Opportunity Zones in primarily minority communities across America
    • Is projected to spur over $100 billion in private investments which will impact 1.4 million minority households
    • Doubled the Child Tax Credit proving an additional $1,000 per child in tax relief for parents
• President Trump is fostering economic growth in record numbers. Black Americans are seeing unprecedented levels of economic success, with record low unemployment rates, more jobs, and higher incomes:
  • • Prior to COVID 19, Nearly 1.3 million more Black Americans found a job since President Trump’s election
    • The Black unemployment rate hit a record low, 5.4 percent prior to COVID 19
      • Prior to the Trump Administration, the Black unemployment rate had never been below 7 percent
    • In 2019, the unemployment rate for Black women hit a record low of 4.4 percent
    • In 2019, the gap between the women’s and Black women’s unemployment rate fell to a record low of just 1.1 percent 
    • Black median household income is at its highest level since 2001
    • The Black poverty rate was at its lowest level in history
    • 350,000 Black Americans were lifted out of poverty under President Trump before COVID 19

• President Trump signed an executive order that expanded apprenticeship programs and   on-the-job training, to provide an alternative for those looking to gain in demand skills that lack the resources to attend four-year universities:
  • • The executive order made it easier for businesses to create and scale apprenticeship programs, providing more Americans access to an affordable education that leads to a well-paying job
    • Established the Workforce Development Advisory Council, which aims to create on-the-job training opportunities for more than 6.5 million Americans

• President Trump signed the historic FIRST STEP ACT into law:
  • • 90 percent of those who have had their sentences reduced are Black Americans 
    • The First Step Act shortens mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug crimes
    • The law allows offenders sentenced under racially motivated mandatory minimums to petition for revaluation 
• President Trump reauthorized the Second Chance Act – creating an opportunity for former prisoners to rejoin society by partnering with corporate America: 
  • • Launched the “Ready to Work” Initiative,” which is helping released prisoners gain meaningful employment 
    • President Trump’s goal is to reduce the overall recidivism rate in the country  

Jobs & Opportunities:

• Over 1.4 million more Black Americans have found a job since President Trump’s election
• Black poverty reached a historic low
• President Trump designated 8,760 Opportunity Zones that are projected to spur $100 billion in private investment in minority communities
• The Trump administration established a fund to deploy $1 billion in capital funding for minority-owned businesses through the Commerce Department
• The Black poverty rate is now at its lowest level in history
• Provided more than $500 million in loans to HBCUs through the Capital Financing Program
• Worked with HBCUs to protect $80 million in Title III carryover funding
• Signed the FUTURE Act into law, which permanently funds HBCUs and simplifies the FAFSA application

Education:

• President Trump’s 2020 budget called for $500 million in federal funding for school choice, and in 2018 he signed legislation increasing school choice funding by $42 million
• His Administration proposed the Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act

Criminal Justice:

The 45th president has made religious freedom a priority of his administration, from putting social conservatives like Severino and Vice President Mike Pence in top positions to lifting the Obama administration’s conscience mandate and establishinga White House office tasked with fielding the concerns of religious Americans and monitoring threats as they arise.
