Delta-8
Even California has banned this product: "PANDORA’S BOX The Dangers of a National, Unregulated, Hemp-Derived Intoxicating Cannabinoid Market", "The notion of legalizing intoxicating cannabinoids simply because they are derived or synthesized from hemp is ludicrous. A comparable scenario would be deregulating wine on the grounds that it derives from grape juice. An intoxicant is an intoxicant. Both common sense and public safety dictate that these substances must be handled with care. The proliferation of untested and unregulated synthetic and semi-synthetic intoxicating cannabinoids is a public health disaster."

Dear Legislator,
The Delta-8 industry makes its livelihood producing an unsafe, unregulated, highly toxic product. Delta-8, often marketed as a medicine without medical research documentation, is not FDA approved, has no warnings on the packaging. It also targets our children with national brand look-a-like candy packaging, yet it is currently legal to sell these products in stores particularly gas stations and convenience stores throughout Florida. WHY? This is a public health safety issue as well as a health fraud. For once, Florida should take the lead from New York, Oregon and other states that have already banned this product. Do you want Florida to be the destination state for Delta-8? Remember the pill mill epidemic!
The legitimate hemp growers do not want to be part of the Delta-8 THC industry.
Banning this product would protect the 21.78 million people living in Florida who do not deserve to be exposed to this high potency synthetic THC product and exploited by this industry.
The only people who will suffer from the banning of this product are the greedy, reckless CEOs directing the Delta-8 industry. The employees have plenty of opportunities to seek alternative employment with the multiply jobs available in the restaurant, hotels, banking…. Almost every business has a ‘hiring’ sign in their front store window throughout Florida.
At a minimum keep the original bill (HOUSE: HB 1475, SENATE SB 1676) with no amendments or BAN online sales and statewide sales of all over the counter Delta-8 THC products in Florida.
Sincerely,

Allowing Delta-8 products to be sold as a medicine and deceiving people by packaging it as candy should be prohibited. This a public health safety issue as well as a health fraud. Don't put profit before the lives of all Floridians. Vote yes to the original Hemp Bill (HOUSE: HB 1475, SENATE SB 1676) filed with no amendments or ban all Delta-8 products in Florida.
